Terrible mourning in sport: he committed suicide in these hours
A terrible mourning has shaken the world of sport in recent hours, especially that of cycling: he committed suicide recently.

In these hours, the cycling world mourns the death of Marc Bracke. The man was the Team Manager of the Doltcini-Van Eyck sports team, active in women’s cycling, and was found dead in the last hours. The man was also the most important figure in the staff of the Belgian team, but in recent years he has been accused of sexual abuse by some of his athletes. Precisely for this accusation, the UCI sentenced him to a three-year disqualification.
Law enforcement found the body of the 53-year-old Flemish executive at his home in Avelgem, Flanders, and he was serving the final year and a half of his suspension. The news immediately caused a sensation and immediately made the rounds of Marc’s colleagues. One of them is the Spaniard Denis Gonzales, who has been part of the Basque team Bizkaia – Durango for years. Gonzales commented on the disappearance, writing, “My friend Marc has left us. Rest in peace”.

In these hours the body of Marc Bracke, responsible for women’s cycling, was found lifeless. In recent years, he had been accused of sexual harassment by athletes Marion Sicot (France) and Sara Youmans (USA), according to whom Bracke had explicitly requested bikini photos of cyclists who would join the team. After this scandal, his reputation was shattered.
Impossible accusations for the Belgian manager who, despite everything, has always declared himself innocent, rejecting all the accusations. A French court also tried to exonerate him, blaming a misunderstanding caused by his poor knowledge of English. Even Doltcini’s Italian channel hailed the leader, writing on social media: “With great sadness, even Doltcini receives the news of the sudden death of Marc Bracke”, finally the company has tightened around the pain of the Belgian family.
