As we know, Sylvester Stallone will not be in ‘Creed 3’, the first of the franchise in which the actor will not be a part. According to Sly, his absence from the spin-off’s third film caused an “unfortunate situation” as he wanted to be part of the cast and be part of the creative decisions.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stallone commented on the absence of the production, as well as the creative difference with producer Irwin Winkler and Michael B. Jordan, protagonist and director of the franchise’s new feature film.
“It’s an unfortunate situation, because I know what I could have done. The film was shot in a very different direction from what I wanted. It’s a different philosophy, everything Irwin Winkler and Michael B. Jordan did,” said the perennial Rocky Balboa.
“I wish them the best, but I’m a sentimentalist. I like my heroes to shine, but I don’t want them to be in a dark place.”

The film will take a few more months to hit theaters. Originally slated to arrive in November 2022, the feature film directed by and starring Michael B. Jordan will now premiere on March 3, 2023.
After the change, “Creed III” will compete directly with “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Rebels”, which will open the same day in the United States. Remember that the ‘Rocky’ franchise will still benefit from a new spin-off, now centered on Ivan Drago, a fierce boxer played by Dolph Lundgren, and his son, Viktor (Florian Munteanu).
‘Creed: Born to Fight’ (2015) showed the journey of Adonis (B. Jordan), son of Apollo Creed, while being coached by Rocky (Sylvester Stallone). The sequel was released three years later, with Adonis facing off against an old foe tied to his family’s past.
All the films combined grossed over $387 million at the worldwide box office and introduced the Rocky franchise to a new generation. The third Adonis Creed film will feature the returns of Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad, in addition to B. Jordan, who this time around will also direct the title.
However, Stallone had already confirmed that he would not be participating in the new sequel. The actuality is in charge of Jonathan Majors (“Loki”), who will live the main antagonist of the plot.
“Well it’s different because I actually declined. I don’t know if there was room for me. It takes you in a different direction. I wish them the best, keep giving punches,” Sly said.
