Through her Instagram, actress Melissa Benoist celebrated the end of filming for the final season of “Supergirl,” bidding a moving farewell to the production and the fans.
“Thank you for these incredible six years! Thanks to the cast who have become a family, to everyone who worked on the show and to everyone who has been watching us all this time, ”the actress said.
The production will return with unreleased episodes on August 24.
Created by Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti, and Andrew Kreisberg, the series originally aired on CBS, but changed channels after cycle two, making the CW catalog and officially joining the Arrowverse.
During the destruction of Krypton, little Kara Zor-El is sent to Earth to protect her cousin Kal-El (Superman), who as a baby is also one of the survivors of the destruction of her home planet. Along the way, Kara’s ship deviates from its original route and finds itself on a planet where time does not pass. At 12, her cousin, who had already become Superman, rescues her and puts her in the care of a family of scientific friends, the Danvers. Kara Danvers grows up like a normal (or almost) child and, at 24, works as Cat Grant’s assistant at CatCo Worldwide Media, without anyone suspecting her superpowers. One day, her adopted sister, Alex, is on a crashing plane and begins to crash. Kara, who has always gotten along very well with her sister, decides to save her with the help of her superpowers, after which she finds out that her sister actually works for the DEO and joins the organization, sharing the life of assistant and Supergirl.
The cast includes Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, Mehcad Brooks, Katie McGrath, Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines, David Harewood and Azie Tesfai.
