Patty Jenkins is set to make history again when she becomes the first woman to commission a film in the “Star Wars” saga. Entitled “Rogue Squadron”, production details are kept under wraps, but day by day it gets closer to life.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins brought great news to fans of the intergalactic saga by revealing that the feature film’s script is nearing completion.
“It’s going to be amazing. I worked on the project for six months before I even announced it, so we put a lot of effort into it. We finish the script, get the team together and everything will be amazing. I’m excited about it. story and the fact that we are the next chapter of ‘Star Wars’ which is a huge responsibility and an amazing opportunity to explore new things.
In another interview, this time with The Associated Press, the director said the work will usher in a new era in the intergalactic pantheon, embracing as yet unknown elements of the franchise.
“I’m in love with these three new projects on my plate right now. I definitely have “Rogue Squadron” next and I’m excited for “Wonder Woman 3”. Michael Stackpole’s books and video games and everything about “Rogue Squadron” [têm] an incredible story that is important to honor. And yet we have to bring it to a new era, because we have to tell a new story and we try to mix the best of everything. […] It’s a big bunch of things that we try to put together and keep as a simple story.
The film will follow the missions of the space artillery team introduced in “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” (1980).
Matthew Robinson (‘Love and Monsters’) is also responsible for the script.
