‘Star Wars’: A new movie will take place after ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ and could spawn a new trilogy

Recently, it was confirmed that the classic and acclaimed “Star Wars” franchise will be getting a new movie, written by Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen,” “The Leftovers”) and Justin Britt-Gibson, who wrote (“The Strain”) , serial horror film produced by Guillermo del Toro.

And, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot will take place after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” which opens the possibility of seeing the return of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and company.

However, the project will not be a sequel to the trilogy released between 2015 and 2019, but a standalone production that could generate an independent trilogy, if the first film is a success.

At the moment, the plot is still being worked on, so there aren’t many details, which means filming should take a while to get started.

It was also said that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who directed the 4th episode of ‘Ms. Marvel’, is in talks to lead the project.

One of them is “Rogue Squadron,” which will be directed by Patty Jenkins (“Wonder Woman”), but remains without a premiere date after a production hiatus.

There are still two untitled projects left… One will be produced by Kevin Feige, with a screenplay by Michael Waldron (Loki), while Taika Waititi (‘Thor: Love and Thunder’) will direct another, which has been in development for more than two years with screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns (‘1917’).
