From ‘Iron Man’ (2008) to ‘Avengers: Ultimatum’ (2019), Robert Downey Jr. has starred at Marvel Studios, on and offscreen.

And now that Stark is dead, the pressure to be his replacement isn’t limited to Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” movies, as many fans expect Tom Holland to succeed Robert Downey Jr. on the MCU.

Even Joe Russo, co-director of Ultimatum, has said Holland is the new face of Marvel Studios.

In an interview with the reporter, the star said he felt honored by the comparison, but intended to go his own way.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I know the fans really support this idea. I’m as honored that Joe thinks that. But, the nicest thing about the MCU is regardless of the leader, if there is a leader again, that leader must think collectively.

He continued:

In these films, you are never alone. You have so many people you can trust, people that I have worked with for years and years. So I don’t feel that pressure, I know I should, so maybe I’ll call Downey for some advice. We keep in touch and he is always very kind.

Remembering that “Spider-Man: No Return Home” producer Amy Pascal revealed that Sony and Marvel Studios are developing a new “Spider-Man” trilogy with Holland’s return.

While promoting the upcoming Webhead film, the actor appeared on a French talk show and avoided revealing details about the character’s future.

Regardless, he said he was eager to see what lay in store for the hero’s future.

“All I can say is we have some very, very exciting things to discuss. I still don’t know what these things are or what they might mean. But it looks like we have an incredibly bright future, and like I said, Spider-Man will live on in me forever.
