“Spider-Man 3” Has Huge Continuity Error From “The Spectacular Spider-Man”

Spider-Man: No Return Home” has become one of Webhead’s most ambitious films and, in addition to serving as a conclusion to the trilogy with Tom Holland, also references the other films – as characters in the saga Sam Raimi and Marc Webb also come face to face in production. However, by merging these multiple universes into one, “No Return Home” opened up several continuity errors – one of which concerns “The Spectacular Spider-Man,” starring Andrew Garfield.

The error in question has to do with a key quote from the arachnid universe that was wrongly attributed to the 2012 reboot and here it is told by Aunt May to Peter Parker before her death at the hands of the Green Goblin. And when Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s hero versions appear, Holland repeats the quote – and that’s where the problem comes in.

Maguire and Garfield exchange glances and show that they have recognized the phrase, telling Holland that their respective uncles Bens have said the same to them. However, while Maguire definitely heard those words from his uncle in the movies, Garfield’s Spider-Man version of Ben never even said them. Rather, he said to Peter, “If you can do good things for others, you have a moral obligation to do them. That’s what’s at stake here… Don’t choose, but take responsibility, ”referring to what her father had said.
