The classic 90s animated series “South Park” is more alive than ever! Creators / showrunners / voice actors Trey Parker and Matt Stone have signed a million dollar contract for more seasons and 14 TV movies.
The formalized deal is $ 900 million, guaranteeing the controversial series an extended lifespan until – at least – 2027, with the right to 14 new films, with two releases per year.
In an official statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the creative duo celebrated support for Comedy Central, which has been home to the controversial animation for 25 years.
“Comedy Central has been our home for 25 years and we are delighted that they have made a commitment to us for the next 75 years. When we came to ViacomCBS with a different way of producing the series during the pandemic, Chris (McCarthy), Nina (Diaz), Keyes (Hill-Edgar) and Tanya (Giles) immediately supported us and allowed us to try something new, which ended up being very well received. We can’t wait to pick up traditional South Park episodes, but now we can experiment with new formats as well. It’s great to have partners who always bet on us ”.
Season 25 will be released next year, and the new deal covers – at the very least – Season 30.
