According to O Globo, Sony has decided to end the sale of certain electronic devices in Brazil by the end of March, such as televisions, cameras and audio equipment.
However, the Playstation will not be affected by the decision. In this way, the distribution, warranty and technical support of the video game in the country will be maintained.
The closure of commercial activities related to the aforementioned products had already been triggered since September 2020.
Indeed, when the tech giant closed the doors of its Manaus plant after nearly 50 years of working in the Brazilian market, which resulted in the layoff of more than 200 employees.
In December, the space was acquired by Mondial with much of the raw materials to manufacture new devices, including televisions and air conditioning.
In a statement, Sony said that “technical support and warranty for all branded products will be maintained for as long as necessary, in accordance with local consumer protection regulations and requirements.”
In 2019, the company also stopped selling mobile phones here and throughout South America and the Middle East due to low sales figures for its smartphones.
Fortunately, Sony do Brasil will continue to devote itself to entertainment with the production of films and music through the labels Sony Pictures and Sony Music.
