‘Sonic 2’ will feature Knuckles the Echidna, one of the franchise’s most popular supporting characters.
According to ComicBook, Jason Momoa (“Game of Thrones“, “Aquaman“) has been asked to voice the beloved character who is an ally of the Swift Blue Hedgehog.
The character in the film will be true to his portrayal in the video game series, which means he’ll be a serious character, and Paramount believes Momoa is perfect for the role.
“For the first movie, we were just watching the 1991 game and seeing where it all started to keep it simple. We really tried to hit Sonic and Robotnik and create their rivalry. We tell the origin story a bit, making everyone fall in love with him as a character and hope for more. And so, now we can open up and bring in some of these other characters that fans know and love. And yes, I mean, no one is more excited than me to have this opportunity, ”Fowler told ComicBook.
Considering what director Jeff Fowler said earlier and the fact that Tails appears prominently in the post-credits scene of the original film, Knuckles looks like the franchise’s kind of natural progression.
Ben Schwartz (“Parks and Recreation”) voices Sonic. The cast includes Jim Carrey, Adam Pally Neal McDonough. Directed by Jeff Fowler.
First released in 1991, the game “Sonic” has sold over 360 million copies in various formats.
