In the plot, Sam is a true Kansan on the surface, but underneath he struggles to fit into his hometown mold. As she struggles with loss and acceptance, singing is Sam’s saving grace and takes her on a journey of self-discovery and a community of strangers who don’t fit in but don’t give up, showing that finding your people and your voice is possible.
