The single check is about to change its face. Giorgia Meloni had promised it during the electoral campaign and the Minister of Family, Birth Rate and Equal Opportunities, Eugenia Maria Roccella, reiterated it a few days ago. Explaining that the objective, in addition to increasing the amounts, is above all that of a reform which rewards the most numerous families so far “abused by the taxman”
Operational since March 2022, the instrument has absorbed other institutions such as the birth bonus, the birth allowance, the temporary allowance and that intended for households with at least three children. This is recognized economic aid to families for each dependent child up to the age of 21 or without age limit for disabled children.
The amount varies according to the economic situation of the nucleus at the time of the application, to be calculated taking into account the number and presence of any disabilities. The monthly allowance reaches up to 175 euros, which is paid to those with an ISEE of up to 15,000 euros, while for higher incomes it gradually drops to a minimum of 50 euros (25 for adult children ) in the case of an ISEE beyond 40 years. thousand or for those who do not submit a declaration

The reference is precisely to the ISEE, that is to say the Indicator of Equivalent Economic Situation, which in the current wording would be to the detriment of large families.
The idea of the reform would therefore be to increase the amounts but also to weaken the ISEE as a parameter for quantifying the allowance, by replacing it with the family quotient and therefore the relationship between income and family members.
“Another important change will precisely concern the increase in the amount paid to households, due to the effect of the revaluation of the benefit at the rate of inflation. From this point of view, since the cost of living has risen to 12.6%, an adjustment of no less than 9% is expected in January 2023, which is equivalent to an increase in the check from 175 euros to 196 euros for the families with ISEE at 15 thousand euros and from 50 to 55 euros per month for those with an ISEE greater than 40 thousand euros
Another novelty of 2023, it will not be necessary to file a new application because the pre-existing one will be automatically renewed for those presenting the Isee indicator. In practice, the INPS will deposit the check directly on the IBAN indicated by the families last year, provided that there have been no changes concerning dependent children. For all those who do not present the ISEE, it will be necessary to complete the application for the single allowance again, making a self-declaration relating to the family income situation as happened last year. In this case, an allowance equal to the legal minimum of 50 euros per child will be due, subject to reassessment.
