Yesterday, DreamWorks announced that the 4th film in the “Kung Fu Panda” franchise will be released in 2024, marking the character’s return since 2016.

Because of the surprise, fans of the animation studio are already campaigning for another ‘Shrek’ movie, since the last one (‘Shrek Forever’) was released in 2010.

It should be remembered that there have been several rumors about a 5th movie in the past, including reports that the release was scheduled for 2019, which didn’t happen, disappointing audiences.

The first “Shrek” came out over 20 years ago, becoming a cultural phenomenon, and the campaign for a new movie proves that the franchise remains in the hearts of the public.

Remember that the complete franchise of ‘Shrek’ is available in the Netflix catalog.

The streaming service also offers the “Puss in Boots” spin-off, as well as Christmas and Halloween specials.

“Shrek” had four theatrical films that grossed $3 billion worldwide. Plus, two live-to-video specials, for Christmas and Halloween, and a spin-off focused on “Puss in Boots.”

Initially, five feature films were planned, but the poor reception of the third and fourth films caused Dreamworks to suspend production.

‘Shrek Forever’ was released in 2010 and grossed $238 million in the United States, the franchise’s worst gross – not to mention the $149 million raised by the ‘Puss in Boots’ spin-off.
