The latest episode of “She-Hulk: Defender of Heroes” featured a friendly robot named KEVIN – a parody of Marvel Studios creative director Kevin Feige himself.
In the plot, the artificial intelligence is responsible for creating all of the studio’s productions, playing a role similar to that of Feige.
And, via Instagram, artist Jackson Sze posted concept art revealing alternate versions of the machine and how he arrived at the end result.
In the caption, he writes:
“A daunting design to tackle, I had to take a look at it when I first read about KEVIN in the script. Our team went through a range of designs to find the right tone, the level of technology and personality to be the mechanical representation of Kevin Feige, the mastermind behind the #mcu It was my goal for the robot to talk about Kevin’s involvement and the creation of #marvelstudios and #mcu. The machine reads Marvel comics, digests and writes scripts for our projects.Other parts that talked about it included RGB camera lenses, film reels and a server. You may notice that the server side of KEVIN brings up the red and white lettering of the Marvel logo, designer Jessica Gao really wanted a reference to the cap that Feige always wears, I thought there was a way to do it using parts of the machine itself. I first tried using a tray of disc ejected to represent the brim of the hat. The comments went further, making the hat more recognizable. This is what resulted in the final design. I sincerely hope audiences find this acceptable portrayal of the man behind some of the most exciting movies and TV shows of the past decade and more.
Have fun watching:
Previously, screenwriter Jessica Gao commented on the character design project, “When the visual effects team showed us different versions of KEVIN, he was all wearing a cap. It didn’t matter what kind of robot it was, he wore a cap. But Kevin [Feige] said: ‘That makes no sense. Why would a robot wear a cap?’ »
