Despite the delay, Netflix has officially renewed the “Sandman” series for Season 2, which isn’t much of a surprise.
Based on the iconic comic book saga created by Neil Gaiman, the adaptation hit the Netflix catalog in early August and took the top spot in the platform’s TOP 10 in 89 countries in its opening week.
Still, the public was in despair over the announcement of the renewal and some subscribers to the platform even threatened to cancel their plans if the attraction was not renewed.
This time around, the social media posts are of celebration, anxiety and anticipation for new episodes.

Don’t forget the ad:
“Millions of viewers have watched and loved ‘Sandman’ on Netflix, from comic book fans to the simply curious. And everyone has become obsessed with the Dreamlord, his family and his universe,” said creator Neil Gaiman “I am pleased to confirm that myself, Netflix and Warner Bros. work to bring new stories to life. Incredible adventures await Morpheus and the other characters… And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to hell…”

“Sandman” is Neil Gaiman’s most popular creation and focuses on the mythical being Dream, a member of a group known as The Perpetuals or The Endless. As the name suggests, the comic book protagonist rules the dream world. The plot begins when he escapes his captivity, which lasted 70 years, and finds his kingdom dilapidated in the present day.
The cast also includes Vivienne Acheapong (Lucienne), Boyd Holbrook (Corinthian), Charles Dance (Roderick Burgess), Asim Chaudhry (Abel), Sanjeev Bhaskar (Cain), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Death), Mason Alexander Park (Desire), Donna Preston (Despair), Jenna Coleman (Johanna Constantine), Niamh Walsh (Ethel Cripps) and Joely Richardson (Ethel).
Allan Heinberg (“Wonder Woman”) serves as the series’ showrunner.
DC’s Vertigo comics imprint originally published the series between 1989 and 1996, with several additional series arriving in 2009 and between 2013 and 2015.
