Following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October of last year after being accidentally shot by Alec Baldwin, filming for “Rust” will no longer take place in New Mexico, United States.

Filming will resume from January 2023. Melina Spadone, an attorney, announced the decision in a statement prepared by production company Rust Movie Productions.

“Production of ‘Rust’ will not be returning to New Mexico. Production is considering other locations, including California, but no decision has been made,” Spadone said.

Indeed, in New Mexico, a criminal investigation is ongoing and the state’s workplace safety procedures remain unresolved.

The statement came after the actor and the film’s production reached an agreement with the cinematographer’s family. As part of the deal, Matthew Hutchins, Halyna’s widower, will produce the film.
