According to Bloody Disgusting, Madelaine Petsch (“Riverdale”) will star in the new franchise film “The Strangers,” which will be a remake based on the first film.
In the plot…
Petsch travels to the countryside with her boyfriend (Froy Gutierrez) to start a new life. When their car breaks down, the couple are forced to spend the night in an isolated Airbnb house, where the couple are terrorized until dawn by three masked strangers.
It should be remembered that Lionsgate is developing a trilogy, which will be shot in Bratislava, Slovakia. Each chapter will develop the story in new and unexpected ways.
Renny Harlin (“From the Bottom of the Sea”) will direct.

The screenplay is signed by the duo Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland.
“When we started developing ‘The Strangers’ remake, we felt we needed to tell a bigger story that could be as tense as the original film and really expand that universe,” explained executive producer Courtney Solomon. “Filming this story as a trilogy will allow us to really explore these characters. We are fortunate to have Madelaine Petsch, a talented young woman whose character will be very important in this journey.
In 2018, the sequel “The Strangers: The Night Hunt” was released, grossing just $31 million at the global box office. Although having divided the opinion of the critics at the time (only 40% of approval on RT), the production gained a little recognition over the years, securing a small fanbase for the production.
