Richard Gere, living with Lyme disease
In 2000, twenty-two years ago, Richard Gere contracted Lyme disease on the set of Autumn in New York, on which he was working with actress Winona Ryder. The disease is transmitted by the bite of a tick and at first it is not easy to recognize it because it appears as a common infection and requires several tests.
It is not a particularly dangerous or life-threatening disease, but living with it remains particularly difficult and stressful. It causes, in fact, continuous fatigue, which makes it difficult to have a lively life as the actor was used to.
At this time, the symptoms cannot be cured and there is no definitive cure. Despite this, the artist continues to fully live his professional and sentimental life. By the way, this syndrome is also not particularly rare. Many personalities suffer from it: we can cite Alec Baldwin, Ben Stiller and Avril Lavigne. For some time, in fact, Ben Stiller has preferred to work on behind-the-scenes films, notably as a scriptwriter and producer, while the singer returned to the stage recently, after a long break.
