Prince William reportedly decided to take a private moment to personally say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth. The Prince of Wales is said to have returned to Scotland this weekend for a “pilgrimage” to his grandmother’s favorite places. The eldest son of King Charles would therefore have visited Balmoral Castle, the holiday home that the Sovereign loved more than all the others.
British media reports that William stayed at Craigowan Lodge, located on the huge estate. It is believed to have been one of Queen Elizabeth’s favorite haunts at Balmoral. The ruler would often have used it mainly for informal occasions.

The hunting lodge holds a special place in Prince William’s heart. This is actually where he went deer hunting with his grandfather, Prince Philip. The Balmoral estate has indeed represented throughout the life of the Prince of Wales a family holiday destination with the rest of the royal family.
Prince William’s tribute to Queen Elizabeth
Over the weekend which coincided with the first month after Queen Elizabeth’s death, Prince William decided to delve into the past, immersing himself in the places most dear to his grandparents. In fact, it was in these woods that Prince Philip taught him and his brother Harry the secrets of stag hunting. The royal family hunts regularly, looking for the oldest stags, those that could die naturally in the following months.

It is also a way to check the number of specimens on the estate. Prince William shot his first deer when he was 14. He inherited the passion for this sport from the rest of the royal family. King Charles reportedly loved this activity so much that Princess Diana renamed it “my killer Wales”. The Balmoral estate therefore represents a real place of personal memory for the new Prince of Wales. It must be for this reason that he would have undertaken this journey alone.
