Prince Harry and Meghan won’t see their TV series on the small screen until at least next year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have been working on the project with Netflix as part of the alleged £88million deal signed between the two parties. It has long been rumored that the Sussexes wanted to take a step back and try to reconcile relations with the royal family.

But now it would be the streaming giant that would have to take a step back. According to reports, indeed, the show has been postponed following the bitter controversy that has arisen for the next season of The Crown, also produced by Netflix.

The series, which will begin its fifth season in a few weeks, has received criticism from all sides, and well-known faces in entertainment and politics have not been immune. In the UK, a real media affair has been created and many are raising their voices in outrage at the way the series deals with issues and episodes related to the English Crown.

Crown controversy drags Harry and Meghan TV series down with it

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were rumored to be working on a TV series as part of their alleged £88m deal with Netflix. The documentary series, however, had already drawn criticism and sounded a wake-up call for experts, who feared repercussions for the royal family. After the interview granted to Oprah Winfrey, in fact, the royal family fears other burning statements from the couple.

After the harsh reviews rained down on The Crown, Netflix decided to err on the side of caution and postpone the airing of this content. Indeed, in recent days The Crown has received accusations of committing “prejudicial” libel against King Charles III, even depicting him plotting against Queen Elizabeth to usurp the throne. The current king is also depicted in very strong scenes with his first wife, Princess Diana.

The Harry and Meghan series is the result of a co-production between Netflix and Archewell Productions. The decision to stop the documentary series comes, according to Hollywood Deadline, by the streaming giant. But just a few weeks ago, more disagreements surfaced between Sussex and Netflix. In fact, the two were reportedly “at odds” with the production team who were determined to make “significant changes.”
