‘Persuasion’: Henry Golding to star in new adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel

The classic novel ‘Persuasion’, one of Jane Austen’s masterpieces, will win another adaptation via Netflix and MRC Entertainment – and has already found another of its protagonists.

Henry Golding, who rose to worldwide fame for the comedy ‘Podres de Ricos’, has been hired to play William Elliot in the new reinterpretation – a cold, calculating and opportunistic young man who turns away from his family to be kissed by her after becoming one. .a rich man. Despite being distant relatives, he developed a romantic interest in Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson), positioning himself as the blood heir to family patriarchy.

Anne, on the other hand, is a nonconformist woman with modern sensibilities who lives with a snobbish and bankrupt family. When her charming ex-fiancé Frederick Wentworth comes back into her life, she must choose to leave the past behind or listen to the heart when it comes to second chance.

The film marks the directorial debut of famous director Carrie Cracknell. The screenplay is in charge of Ron Bass (“Rain Man”) and Oscar winner Alice Victoria Winslow.

Andrew Lazar, Christina Weiss Lurie, Elizabeth Cantillon, Michael Constable and David Fliegel arrive as producers.

The work was the last to be completed by Austen and was published in 1817, six months after his tragic death.
