The release of Roberto Spada has revived the spotlight on Ostia, the district of the 10th municipality of Rome, where Spada himself became the protagonist of the famous 2017 magazine by journalist Daniele Pervicenzi, the video of which made the rounds of the Web.
“Released for expiation of sentence”, as reported by the Republic. But at the moment other legal proceedings are pending against Spada: to give an example, the Assize Court of Appeal will have to rule on the charge of mafia association.
“It is not that with the imprisonment of Roberto Spada the mafia of the region has come to an end – commented the president of the ANPI Elio Farina, Stefania Galimberti, to iNews24 -. If you go to this quadrant, you will always find the guys who are sentries for 100 euros a day even if the Spada family is imprisoned”.

Press release from Spada, ANPI: “Fireworks? Why was this allowed?”
“It’s a family that has a certain mastery of the territory”, which is why the families “are afraid”, according to Galimberti, who suggests that the mafia has never been completely eradicated by Ostia.
On the other hand, according to the president of the local ANPI, what should make us think are the 15 minutes of unauthorized fireworks (according to what was reported by the Republic) for the return of Roberto Spada after his release: “The question arises as to why the institutions were able to allow such a thing”.
“This news must be a warning for us and above all also a boost to continue the activities that we always do, such as the defense of constitutional values”, says Marco Severa, member of the ANPI Elio Farina board of directors, who then adds: “It’s a town hall that over the years has been identified as a mafia district, but it’s not true, there is so much beauty”.
