Pensions: those who choose to continue working for a few more years will receive a 10% bonus on their salary. The employee and the employer will cease to pay contributions, and a part of these sums will be immediately included in the salary, with a consequent net increase in salary.

This is one of the novelties of the pension plan of the Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, who in recent days signed a decree which, from January 1, 2023, provides for an adjustment of + 7.3% citizens’ pensions.

The increase, as required by current legislation, was calculated on the basis of the percentage change that occurred in the consumer price indices provided by Istat on November 3, 2022.

Pensions: the windows of early exits

Anyone who wishes can leave the labor market before the age of 67, the threshold set by the Fornero law of 2012. Thus, a window is also envisaged at 62 or 63, with an appropriate number of years of contributions. paid. At the same time, those who decide to continue working will get an increase of around 10% in wages on payroll, with potentially lower costs for the state and companies, which would no longer have to pay contributions to workers.

Giorgetti’s objective is to avoid increasing the costs in net terms in the medium-long term, and at the same time to ensure that companies do not lose, in the short term, hard-to-replace workers.

According to current trends, the cost of pensions in Italy will increase by 58 billion by 2025. More than 19.5% in three years and a net point more than GDP in real terms. An increase twice as fast as that of contributions, the flow of which should increase by 32 billion and be in the middle of the term of 59 billion per year lower than the pensions to be paid.
