According to Deadline, Justin Lin (“Fast and Furious 9,” “Star Trek Without Borders”) will direct a live-action adaptation of “One Punch Man,” produced by Sony Pictures.

For those who don’t know, the manga created by Yusuke Murata was first published in 2009 and follows the adventures of Saitama, a bald and fragile-looking superhero capable of exterminating the enemies of a single punch.

Bored with the lack of challenge in his struggles against evil, Saitama wanders in search of a worthy opponent.

The work has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the most popular manga series today.

Recall that Lin also directed the action comedy “Finishing the Game”, which revolves around the world of martial arts, so he has a certain mastery of the genre.

The screenplay for the adaptation will be written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, responsible for new films in the “Jumanji” franchise.

Pinkner also rose to prominence writing episodes of popular shows such as “Alias” and “Lost,” but he also wrote the lousy adaptation of “The Dark Tower” based on Stephen King’s novel.

As of now, there are still not many details surrounding the adaptation, such as the cast and no premiere date.

As the project is in its early stages, updates should be released over the next few months.
