Olivia Wilde, director of films such as ‘The Series’ (2019) and ‘Don’t Worry Honey’, said acting in “shitty movies” taught her how to be a better filmmaker.

That’s because as an actress, Wilde took part in movies like ‘Tron: Legacy’ (2010), ‘The ‘Reborn from Hell’ (2015) and ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ (2011). During a conversation with Maggie Gyllenhaal, also an actress and director, she recalled particular moments from her career.

“I’ve done 5,000 times more shitty movies than you. I’ve been through really bad times, and now I’m thinking, “I did this to learn all the caveats that would help define me as a director: how am I going to talk to a crew, how am I going to talk to actors, how am I ever going to schedule a movie. It all comes from those bad experiences,” Olivia confessed.

Recalling that ‘Don’t Worry Honey’ is released in Brazilian cinemas on September 22.

In the plot, Alice is the perfect housewife, living in a utopian community in the California desert, with her husband Jack. Hiding her frustrations, she ends up making a disturbing discovery that makes her question her “flawless” reality.

The cast also includes Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, Sydney Chandler and Kate Berlant.
