Non-stop marathon sets can kill, research finds

Scientists at Osaka University in Japan have researched the habit of watching multiple episodes of a series at a time … and found that binge watching increases the risk of premature death.

Research indicates that spending hours sitting on the couch watching TV shows is equivalent to air travel and requires stretching and aerobic movements at least every hour. That is, between one episode and another, do a show jumping.

Watching TV for five or six hours straight doubles the chance that a person will die from pulmonary embolism due to lack of blood flow.

Research Says Running a Marathon is a Sign of Depression and Loneliness

Similar research by the Journal of the American Heart Association has previously indicated that people who spend three more than three hours a day sitting in front of the sofa without moving can lead to death from cardiovascular disease and cancer.
