According to Deadline, a new reboot based on George A. Romero’s classic “Night of the Living Dead” is in development.
Nikyatu Jusu (“Terror in Two Sentences”) will direct.
The site claims the project is the result of a partnership between production company Village Roadshow Pictures and Chris Romero through Sanibel Films. The expectation is that the new feature is the start of a new franchise.
Story details weren’t disclosed, but it’s speculated the production will be set in the same universe as the classic feature film.
“The original version of ‘Night of the Living Dead’ still resonates with audiences today. Each era has its own representative in the zombie subgenre. Today, zombies reflect on how humans treat each other and show us who the monsters really are,” Jusu said.
