‘News of a Kidnapping’: Miniseries Based on Gabo’s Book Gets Amazon Prime Trailer

The official trailer and poster for ‘News of a Kidnapping’, a new series based on real events and the book of the same name by Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, known as Gabo, was unveiled this Wednesday (3 ) by Prime Video.

The six-episode miniseries will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime on August 12 in more than 240 countries and territories. Watch the video just above, at the top of the post. Check out the production poster:

The gripping and suspenseful story follows the trials of a small group who were kidnapped in the 1990s by Colombian drug barons – Diana Turbay (Majida Issa), Maruja Pachón (Cristina Umaña), Marina Montoya (Carmenza Gómez) and Beatriz Villamizar (Julieth Restrepo) – and the extraordinary efforts of those close to them to free them – Alberto Villamizar (Juan Pablo Raba) and Nydia Quintero (Constanza Duque).

‘News of a Kidnapping’ is directed by Andrés Wood (‘Violet Went to Heaven’), who also serves as an executive producer. News of a Kidnapping is produced by María Elena Wood, Matías Cardone, Macarena Cardone and Patricio Pereira (of production company Invercine & Wood); Lourdes Díaz, Stuart Ford, Cristina Garza (AGC Studios) and by García Márquez’s own son, acclaimed screenwriter and director Rodrigo García (“Six Feet Under”).
