Netflix is ready to surprise everyone with a real revolution. In fact, it will soon be difficult to do so: users will be amazed.

These are hours of great excitement for the world’s most popular video streaming platform. In fact, in these hours the launch of a plan is ready which has the mission of recovering users. The big news, however, won’t let you do that.

The long-awaited communication has finally arrived with Netflix ready to finally introduce the basic plan with advertising. The new subscription, which includes commercial breaks during viewing, will be available in Italy from November 3 at 5:00 p.m. Its cost will be 5.49 euros per month, compared to 7.99 euros for the traditional Basic package. Already in April this year, the video streaming platform announced the arrival of the new tariff plan. The purpose of this subscription is to recover subscribers.

Between January and March alone, the loss was 200,000 subscribers, which caused a drastic drop in the stock market. In addition, this drop had led the company to intervene and prevent the sharing of the password of the same subscription, as well as to lay off 150 employees to reduce costs. But those measures didn’t help as things got worse between April and June, when Netflix reported the loss of another million subscribers. For this reason, in the end, the giant wanted to resort to this new type of subscription.

Netflix has therefore introduced the new type of subscription with advertising in addition to the traditional Basic, Standard and Premium plans and is available in 12 countries (Australia, Brazil, Canada, Korea, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom , Spain and the United States). Compared to the original plans, an average of 4-5 minutes of commercial breaks per hour is introduced. However, a number of movies and TV shows will not be available due to licensing restrictions.

At launch, ads will be 15 or 30 seconds long and will be placed before and during shows and movies. These cannot be ignored by the user. In addition, those who activate this subscription will not be able to download the titles, since this would imply the possibility for those who watch to skip the advertising. After the sharp drop in users recorded in 2022, therefore, even Netflix like the rivals in the sector has relied on a cheaper subscription, which will however be able to benefit from advertising revenues while watching content.
