The afternoon classic “My First Love”, starring Macaulay Culkin and Anna Chlumsky, is out now on Netflix.
In the plot, 11-year-old Vada Sultenfuss is obsessed with death because her mother died when the girl was born and her father, Harry Sultenfuss, is an undertaker who doesn’t pay much attention to her. Vada is in love with Jake Bixler, her English teacher, and is very friendly with Thomas J. Sennett, a boy who is allergic to everything. When Harry hires Shelly DeVoto, a makeup artist, for the funeral and falls in love with her, Vada feels rejected and wants to do anything to keep them apart.
