In these hours, actor Andrew Prine died in Paris at the age of 86. The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news. Indeed, the tabloid explained that the actor was on vacation in France with his wife, actress and producer Heather Lowe and would have died of natural causes.
Many will remember him as the protagonist of many westerns. But many viewers will remember his role in the 1980s series V-Visitors, in which he played one of Managers Steven’s fleet captains. Let’s take a look back at the actor’s career on the big screen.

On the big screen, Andrew Prine also played the brother of Helen Keller (Oscar Patty Duke) in Arthur Penn’s Anna of Miracles (1962) and a lawman in Texarkana, Arkansas. As this character Andrew tracks down a hooded serial killer alongside Ben Johnson in Charles B. Pierce’s cult classic The Town That Was Afraid (1976).
Later in his career, he distinguished himself as Confederate General Richard B. Garnett in the film Gettysburg. Also in the 1960s, he guest starred in the TV movies Bonanza, The Virginian, and Caravans to the West and appeared in West Texas Across the River (1966) with Dean Martin, often doing stunts. While in 1964 he starred in the first season of the television series The Fugitive and had a recurring role a year later in the final season of Doctor Kildare. Despite this, westerns would remain his genre of choice even into the 70s, totaling more than 180 appearances by the end of his tenure.
