The adaptation of “Morbius” has again been postponed by Sony Pictures in the United States, this time in just one week.
Now, the feature is scheduled for January 28, 2022.
It’s worth remembering that the film will be the first to be part of the new deal between Netflix and Sony Pictures, which will give the streaming service the rights to display Sony films after their stints in theaters.
The terms of the agreement guarantee that “Netflix will have an exclusive 18-month window to screen Sony Pictures films.”
“Sony Pictures is a great partner and we are delighted to extend our relationship with this agreement,” Netflix chief Scott Stuber said in a statement. “This will not only allow us to display its impressive film catalog on our platform in the United States, but also create a new home for moviegoers around the world.”
Daniel Espinosa (“Vida”) is responsible for the management.
For those unfamiliar with it, the character first appeared in issue 101 of “ The Amazing Spider-Man, ” released in 1971.
In the plot, Dr. Michael Morbius suffers an accident while testing the possible cure for a blood disease and ends up transforming into a vampire, artificially created and different from mythological creatures.
Jared Leto (‘Blade Runner 2049’) is the main character. The cast also includes Tyrese Gibson, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris and Matt Smith.
