In an interview with TVLine, Allison Janney, who plays Bonnie Plunkett in the comedy “ Mom, ” was heartbroken by the series’ cancellation and explained why production was drawing to a close.
“It’s sad. I wanted the writers to have one more season so that we could build a narrative for the end. We had to stop earlier than we expected. We thought they would want another ‘mom’ season, but we we are mistaken. ”
She adds: “There are many reasons behind the cancellation – the vast majority revolve around money. But I do know that Chuck Lorre is writing the final episode and that we are currently filming the antepenultimate episode. I see a lot of moments where I’m standing backstage, looking at all of these faces that I’ve been in contact with for eight years. Suddenly it’s the end. And, no matter how hard I prepare, I know I’ll cry horrors because it’s been an amazing trip.
The series was created by Chuck Lorre (“The Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men”).
Christy is a single mother who has just come out of rehab and decides to get her life in order. But her mother Bonnie, an alcoholic with whom she had not been in contact for many years, resurfaces and makes the task even more complicated.
The cast also includes Allison Janney, Mimi Kennedy, Jaime Pressly, Kristen Johnston and Beth Hall.
