Michael B. Jordan Could Live 1st Black Superman In Theaters

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot of “Superman” produced by JJ Abrams will feature the story of Black Superman.

Warner spoke to actor Michael B. Jordan (‘Creed‘) for years to take over the costume that will be left behind by Henry Cavill.

“There is a powerful and moving new Superman story that has yet to be told. We couldn’t be more excited to work with brilliant screenwriter Ta-Nehisi Coates to help bring this story to the big screen and we are so grateful to the Warner Bros. team. for the opportunity, ”said JJ Abrams.

The project will be written by famed Ta-Nehisi Coates – who scripted the “Black Panther” and “Captain America” comics for Marvel.

“To be invited to DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor,” Coates said in a statement on Shadow and Act, a site dedicated to the African diaspora in the arts. “I look forward to adding significantly to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythical hero.”

Despite the negotiations, the actor warned the studio that he would only agree to commit to the role of Superman if he realizes the studio’s true commitment to the character itself.

In an interview with presenter Oprah Winfrey, Jordan revealed which version of Man of Steel he’d like to experience in theaters.

He said he would rather bring Calvin Ellis (Earth-23 Superman) to life than play Clark Kent:
