Ben Wheatley, who recently helmed Netflix horror “Rebecca”, will direct the sequel “Meg 2: The Trench” (“MegaTubarão 2: The Trench”) and has revealed news of the production.
The director shared his excitement and his plans are to honor the reach of the prehistoric giant shark.
“My goal is to respect MegaTubarão and try to make sure it’s going to be a great movie. It’s an opportunity to act on such a large scale, it’s just amazing. It’s just going to be amazing. Just by doing the storyboards for the movie, I imagined how big it was going to be. I feel a great responsibility to make sure that I will please fans of big sharks.
The screenplay for the new film was written by Dean Georgaris and Jon & Erich Hoeber.
In addition to playing the lead role, Jason Statham will also be “creatively involved” in the feature film.
A theatrical hit, ‘MegaTubarão’ surprised at the box office and grossed US $ 530.2 million worldwide.
