Marvel Comics has announced the release of the next issue of the “Marvel Voices: Pride” comic book series, which will introduce a trans character to the canon.

The stamp was created specifically to highlight LGBTQ+ characters and the first issue hit stores on June 22 this year.

The climax of the first is a transgender mutant named Escapade, and her story is told in a 20-page adventure written by author Charlie Jane Anders, illustrated by Ro Stein and Ted Brandt, and colored by Tamra Bonvillain.

Also known as Shela Sexton, Getaway has the ability to instantly switch places with another person, or swap specific physical or abstract attributes such as possessions, social status, abilities, superhuman powers, and even the situations.

However, she is only able to sustain the energy exchange for a few hours on each attempt and must be within two meters of her target, and the more complex the situation, the greater the risk of causing an accident. .

Have fun watching:

Luckily, she enlists an invaluable partner and best friend, Morgan Red, a tech-savvy genius with an arsenal of high-tech tools and gadgets. Together, Escapade and Morgan arrive in the Marvel Universe as professional thieves, robbing criminal and corrupt organizations…until an encounter with Emma Frost and Destiny changes the course of Escapade’s life forever.

In an interview with the official Marvel website, Anders commented on the importance of the character:

“I’ve loved the Marvel Universe for as long as I can remember, and I hope ‘Escapade’ and Morgan Red inspire trans and non-binary people around the world to believe that they too can fight for justice with the power of creativity and the family support they choose.

Brandt explained that:

“Now more than ever, we need a hero like Shela Sexton for people to look up to. It was a true honor and privilege to be part of her creative process!”

“It’s very exciting to be part of creating a new character for Marvel comics,” added Stein. “Working with Charlie Jane’s script has been a lot of fun, and I hope people enjoy reading ‘Escapade’ as much as we enjoyed putting up its first draft on the page.”

This fall, “Escapade” will also be part of an all-new “New Mutants” story, also written by Anders.
