“Matrix Resurrections”: What Happened to Lawrence Fishburne’s Morpheus? To verify!

Published

on

The “Matrix Resurrections” trailers had already made it clear that Lawrence Fishburne’s Morpheus might not be part of the plot.

This is because the character is now played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (‘Aquaman’).

But what happened to the original Morpheus?

One of the most interesting aspects of “The Matrix Resurrections” is that the plot takes place 60 years after the events of “The Matrix Revoltuins”, and almost all of the characters in the trilogy die over time.

Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) have had their lives extended by the machines, though the only familiar faces in the real world are the now elderly Niobe (Jada Pinkett Smith).

This means that Lawrence Fishburne’s Morpheus has been long dead, and it appears that the events of “The Matrix Online” (2005) are canonical.

Enjoy watching:

In the game, Morpheus became the leader of the Human Council, demanding the recovery of Neo’s body from Machine City to prove that he died in an effort to free humans from the oppression of Machines.

Without his wish for an answer, he begins a series of terrorist attacks aimed at exposing the artifice of the Matrix to everyone.

During one of his attacks, he is surprised and killed by a masked figure, and it seems that this is how his story officially ends.

In the new movie, we see a statue in his honor, indicating that he is still an important historical figure for all released humans.

However, his influence is still felt, as Yahya’s Morpheus is a program created by Neo from memories of the original Morpheus.

Throughout the plot, it is discovered that he was created by Neo as the hero tried to figure out the origin of his purpose in The Matrix.

It is explained that Neo only became the Chosen One due to an “algorithmic reflection of two forces that helped him become what he should be”, and those two forces were Morpheus and the Agent. Smith from the original trilogy.

Basically, the character of Yahya is the conjunction of the codes of Smith and Morpheus, and the code of Morpheus has ended up being essential in its composition.

Remember that the film is already showing in national cinemas.

Watch our review:

On Rotten Tomatoes, the new film opened with 66% approval, out of 77 reviews.

So far, there have been 51 positives and 26 negatives.

The Chicago Sun Times commentary still describes the film as a tribute to the past that does not bring boldness or an innovative plot.

On the flip side, The Globe and Mail says 2021 couldn’t have ended better because of the feature film debut.

Thankfully, it looks like the charisma of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss continues to tickle Neo and Trinity and lavish chemistry throughout the plot.

Discover the main opinions:

“Although the epic sci-fi trilogy is rebooted after almost 20 years in a clever way, it cannot maintain the energy or excitement of the original, turning into something tiring and dated. . ” – The Yap Film.

“Matrix Resurrections” struggles with its legacy and puts existential self-awareness into true “Matrix” style. Only this time around, director and co-writer Lana Wachowski got much more personal and sentimental, bringing surprising humor to the mix. – Bloody disgusting.

“’Matrix Resurrections’ could have been a completely cynical attempt to get us to spend money. Or, just as bad, an exercise in arrogance [de Lana Wachowski]. Wow! But she manages to dodge all those bullets. – London Evening Standard.

“As exciting as its arrival may be, ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ recreates many of the ideas from the first film with only an apparent self-awareness as a safeguard against its lack of originality.” – What to watch.

“Matrix Resucrections” shows that there is more than just a flaw in the matrix. This movie gives us the impression that the whole server is down. – News from Detroit.

“‘Matrix Resurrections’ appears to be trying to build on the success of the original trilogy, much like in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, crossing the line between nostalgia and a reboot that will (likely) kick off a whole new series of films – Insider.

“’Matrix Resurrections’ goes back to the full source code that made the original so compelling. And Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are a pair again with a lot of on-screen chemistry. – Web film.

Criticism | Matrix Resurrections is worth the nostalgia, but it’s a generic blockbuster….

Remember that “Matrix Resurrections” is a continuation of the story set in the first MATRIX movie.

In the plot, Reeves and Moss return as Neo & Trinity cinematic icons in an expansion of their story that ventures into the Matrix and deeper into the Rabbit Hole.

A mind-boggling new adventure with action and epic scale, set in a familiar but even more provocative world where reality is more subjective than ever and all it takes to see the truth is to clear your mind .

20 years after the first film, the franchise that helped define pop culture at the turn of the century is back in the continuity and extension of the original film. Matrix remains in tune with the times like a film that has changed our outlook on cinema and reality itself. With its groundbreaking action and visuals, The Matrix helped pave the way for films to come.

In addition to Reeves and Moss, the cast includes Jada Pinkett-Smith (Niobe), Daniel Bernhardt (Agent Johnson), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci and Priyanka Chopra.

“Matrix” was released in 1999 and acclaimed around the world for its pioneering visual effects. The original won four Oscars and grossed $ 463 million worldwide.

Two sequels followed, ‘The Matrix: Reloaded’ and ‘The Matrix: Revolutions’, both of which hit theaters in 2003.

In total, the trilogy raised $ 1.6 billion for Warner Bros. Pictures.
