“Matrix Resurrections” is NOT a sequel, says producer and writer

“The Matrix Resurrections” is the fourth film in the franchise, and fans are curious to see how the new storyline will fit into the events of “The Matrix Revolutions,” released in 2003.

For those who don’t remember, Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) were killed and The Matrix rebooted.

However, producer and screenwriter David Mitchell spoke with To Vima (via CBR) and said the new title is not a sequel.

At least not in the traditional sense of the word …

“I saw the film in Berlin in September. It is very good. I can’t say what it is, but I could explain what it isn’t. It’s certainly no longer a sequel, but something stand-alone that encompasses the previous three films in a very clever way. It is a beautiful creation, even if it is very strange.

He went on to say that “Resurrections” would also explore concepts that are not common to action movies.

“This movie is also about some things that we don’t see in action movies, which means it’s going to revolutionize the concepts that limit blockbusters.”

Although the main couple were killed, it’s worth remembering that the Oracle has said they will be seen again, and that’s what the “Matrix Resurrections” plot will be about.

Remember that the sequel won a new advertisement, which suggests some new scenes.

In addition to Reeves (Neo), the feature film features the return of Carrie-Ann Moss (Trinity), Jada Pinkett-Smith (Niobe) and Daniel Bernhardt (Agent Johnson), as well as the introduction of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci and Priyanka Chopra.

“Matrix” was released in 1999 and acclaimed around the world for its pioneering visual effects. The original won four Oscars and grossed $ 463 million worldwide.

Two sequels followed, “The Matrix: Reloaded” and “The Matrix: Revolutions”, both released in theaters in 2003.
