Russia will resume its participation in the wheat agreement. The announcement was made by the Kremlin Defense Ministry. Ukraine, reports the Ria Novosti agency, provided the “necessary written guarantees not to use the Black Sea grain corridor for combat operations against Russia”, which were obtained “thanks to the mediation of the Turkey and the United Nations”.

The UN thanked Turkey for the mediation. “I welcome the return of the Russian Federation to the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative to facilitate the export of food and fertilizers from Ukraine. I am grateful for Turkish help. I look forward to working with all participants in the initiative again,” UN wheat deal coordinator Amir Abdulla wrote on Twitter.

Wheat: traffic will resume on November 3

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister, said he expects maritime traffic along the Black Sea grain corridor to resume tomorrow November 3: “On Thursday, November 3, eight ships carrying agricultural products are expected to pass through the grain corridor . We have received confirmation from the UN,” he tweeted.

Confirmation also comes from the United Nations: “Ukrainian exports of grain and food products must continue. Although no vessel movements are expected today, we expect loaded vessels to set sail on Thursday.” Moscow had suspended the wheat agreement, signed in recent months, thanks to the mediation of Turkey and under the aegis of the UN, after a drone attack against its fleet in the Black Sea, in Crimea.
