Although ‘Mare of Easttown’ was intended as a miniseries, there’s a good chance the story will gain continuity in a second season. In an interview with TVLine, Kate Winslet said she would like to return to play the character of Mare Sheehan in a new cycle.
“I would love to play Mare again. I miss her. I really feel it. It’s very strange, but I feel like I’m in mourning. She’s a fantastic character… there’s something really addicting about playing Mare, because she’s outrageous, adorable, bright and real, you know? I loved playing it.
Regarding a possible continuity, Craig Zobel, director of the series, said that Mare Sheehan “is an incredible character, so it would be interesting to explore it more” in a second season, but that “I also like this production as that mini-series “.
Craig Zobel (‘The Leftovers’) is responsible for directing all episodes.
Winslet stars as Mare Sheehan, a Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local killer as life unfolds around her. The series explores the dark side of a tight-knit community and an authentic examination of how family and the tragedies of the past define the present.
Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart, Angourie Rice, Evan Peters, Guy Pearce, Cailee Spaeny, David Denman, John Douglas Thompson, Patrick Murney, James McArdle, Sosie Bacon, Joe Tippett and Neal Huff complete the cast.
