‘Mad Max: Furious’: Anya Taylor-Joy starring Charlize Theron streak already has a premiere date

Warner Bros. has finally announced a premiere date for “ Mad Max: Furiosa, ” which hits theaters on July 21, 2023, eight years after the feature film starring Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy.

Released in 2015, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ won a legion of fans as it told a bit of the story of Furiosa (Theron), a character who manages to break free from the clutches of the ruthless Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne ) with the help of Max (Hardy).

Recalling that Anya Taylor-Joy has been confirmed as the character’s performer in the next film, which will serve as a pre-sequence.

During an interview for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, she spoke for the first time about her expectations for the film.

“The first thing that came to my mind when I found out the role was mine was, ‘I’m so excited I’m going to work hard on this project.’ The level of engagement from the actors who have gone through the franchise before me was incredible and I want to strive to match them, and that makes me very excited.

The star also said he has yet to meet director George Miller in person, but has spoken to him online to discuss character building.

“I fell in love with Furiosa and the way Charlize [Theron] gave him life. What she did was so beautiful that I couldn’t even imagine walking into her house. I talked to Miller about this and we’re working to give Furiosa a new image, it has to be something different because Charlize can’t be matched.

According to Deadline, Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Aquaman, Watchmen”) will also be part of the cast.

Recalling that Theron will not resume the role of the same name this time, since the plot will be centered on the youth of Furiosa.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Theron admitted to being devastated by the news:

“This one was hard to digest Listen, I totally respect George and even more after making the movie with him. He is a master and I wish him nothing less than the best. But yeah, it’s a bit heartbreaking for sure. I was devastated. I really love this character and am very grateful that I played a small part in his creation. She will always be someone I think about and think about fondly. I would obviously love to see this story continue and if he feels this is the way he needs to go, I trust him on this. We are so concerned with the little details that we forget that what we get emotionally involved in has nothing to do with the work we are focusing on ”.

In an interview with The New York Times, Miller revealed that the original idea was to bring Theron back under the name Furiosa using facial rejuvenation technology, but ultimately decided to choose a new actress.

“ Mad Max: Fury Road ” is considered a hit by expert critics, garnering 97% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, in addition to receiving six Oscar statues out of ten nominations, including Best Picture.

Despite this, the feature film made just $ 378.9 million worldwide, on a budget of $ 150 million.
