“Mean Girls” is one of those movies that no matter how many times we watch it, we’ll always laugh like it’s the first time! Launched in 2004, the comedy is still a success today, serving as inspiration and reference for several artists and projects that will follow.
And the desire for a real sequel is nothing new. While the production has earned a sequel that’s totally disconnected from the original, many fans have already wondered about the possibility of the official cast returning to the big screen, in a new chapter.
And actress Lindsay Lohan once again expressed her desire to reunite The Powers, in a direct sequel to “Mean Girls,” during an interview with the online talk show Lights Out With David Spade.
At the time, she said:
“I should probably start making movies again at some point. I think I have been attached to ‘Mean Girls’ for a long time. I wanted to come back with “Mean Girls 2”. Returning to work with Tina Fey and the entire cast, as well as director Mark Waters. It was really what I wanted. I was so excited to do this. It’s in their hands, but it would be very exciting.
In “Mean Girls”, teenage Cady Heron was raised in Africa by her scientific parents. When her family moves to suburban Illinois, Cady finally attends public school and quickly becomes familiar with the unspoken laws of popularity that divide her peers. Unwittingly, she ends up getting involved with a preppy girl group called The Powerful Ones, but soon learns that the school’s youthful universe is more fierce than a jungle.
The production had a budget of $ 17 million and a staggering box office of $ 129 million.
