Nevertheless, the actor recently shocked fans with an unexpected statement, through which he expressed his desire to retire from the stage. The role of Jackson Lamb in the acclaimed Slow Horses could therefore be his last work.

While last summer he declared at the Giffoni Film Festival that he wanted to work with Paolo Sorrentino, now Gary Oldman would have retraced his steps. According to what was reported by Deadline, in fact, the well-known face of the big screen published an interview for the Times, through which he expressed his intention not to continue for very long. “I had an enviable career but careers are declining and I have other things that interest me besides acting.” began the British interpreter, surprisingly.
“When you’re young you think you’ll be able to do anything but then the years go by. I will be 65 next year, 70 is fast approaching. I don’t want to play anymore when I’m 80. I would feel very honored and privileged to end my career as Jackson Lamb and then hang up my jacket”, finally commented the actor. Currently, Gary Oldman is still busy shooting the series Slow Horses, already renewed for the third and fourth seasons, so the decision wouldn’t be made just yet.In addition, the famous face of the big screen is part of the cast of Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated new project, centered on J. Robert Oppenheimer, “the inventor of the atomic bomb” (played by Cillian Murphy).
