Robert KingIn a recent interview with Variety, Oscar-winning multi-talented Lady Gaga revealed if she will appear in superhero movies in the future – and the response may not have been so appealing.
Gaga commented that she is always looking for a great screenplay and story and that for her there is always a need to be part of a project that has something to say.
“May be [eu participe]. It’s very hard for me to say I wouldn’t do anything. I think overall I’m not interested in doing those things that don’t have anything important to say, ”she revealed.
At a recent press conference CinePOP attended, Gaga commented on her process of portraying Patrizia Reggiani in the biographical drama “Casa Gucci”, for which her performance was hugely acclaimed by pundits.
The actress and singer has commented in other interviews that she doesn’t want anyone telling her about Patrizia and her personality, deciding to investigate her behavior and find out for herself how he would bring her. on the big screen.
“You know I spent a lot of time reading about her, watching interviews that she did, watching interviews about her too, but I tried not to read too much or watch too much. who would have an opinion on her, “she revealed. “Because I really wanted to create my own [opinião]. I focused on who she was and why it happened for a long time, but I thought it was meaningful and important to make sure that I was kind of a reporter as I approached the role, because I was a real person. And a person who, in many of his interviews, lies all the time. “

Gaga continues: “I wanted to be able to decipher for herself how she behaves when she lies, how she behaves when she doesn’t lie … And who was the real woman, Patrizia Reggiani, before she got married, before she was not. kill him. there is less [coisas] about him, she was younger, so I wanted to build her childhood and I believe she was a real woman who fell in love, and I believe that she not only loved Maurizio, but loved what he wanted to say and how he empowered her in the family business. And when that was taken from her, I think she acted differently than most women – most of them don’t order their husbands to be murdered. And, in the same way, I believe in a system, in the kind of systemic oppression that she’s been faced with. It happened because she was just hurt. “
From the trailers, it is remarkable how the narrative, adapted from the homonymous novel by Sarah Gay Forden, centers on the complex dynamic between Patrizia and Maurizio, whose story of love and trust grew. transformed into a tragedy that has marked contemporary history. More than that, Gaga’s characterization shifts from a woman with multiple dreams to someone helplessly watching the reality she used to dismantle all at once.
The artist has always worn the elements of performance art to bring each of the characters she embodied to life, whether in the world of music or cinema. For ‘Casa Gucci’, Gaga resorted to a somewhat unexpected method – and took inspiration from the felines to give Patrizia maximum emotion and credibility.
“I really wanted to guarantee the side [da figurinista] Janty [Yates], which is amazing, who made all the clothes for the movie, that Patrizia never looked as bright as the Guccis and I never wanted fashion to talk. And in terms of the physicality of acting, I actually based it on three animals that I worked with: early in life [de Patrizia], I was a cat, a domestic cat; in the middle of the movie, in the second act, I was a fox, so I studied the way foxes hunt, and they’re really playful when they do that; and then I studied the panthers towards the end. For the third act of the film, she becomes this huge feline. I’ve watched a lot of videos of how panthers hunt and they are alluring when they do, they seduce and then attack. I’m sure everyone knows there is a big difference between the three animals, so I used it to understand the physicality of the character.
Throughout production, Patrizia matures. She met Maurizio at just 22 years old and remained in the life of the Gucci heir until almost fifty years. Gaga also said it was difficult to interpret it in a thirty-year timeline, and her entire process worked like a science lab.
“I would say play someone the movie crumbles in thirty years… First of all, me playing 22, 25 it’s ridiculous, (laughs) but thank you Ridley [Scott, diretor], for believing in me that way… But it was a challenge. The trailer where I prepared myself every day was like a science lab.
She continues, “We had follow-up shots that were in sequence, so we knew how I was at all times; there were fifteen wigs inside, which were real replicas of the way [Patrizia] he wore his hair at specific times in his life, which can be seen in photographs; [as perucas] they were specific back then, even the chemicals we used to dye them were specific. Everything we did was pretty specific. In the morning, I could shoot a scene where she was in her late 30s or early 40s, and then I had to do a scene where she was 25. “
As for the rest of the cast and the tech and creative team that accompanied her on this journey, Gaga was full of praise and commented that everything was working so well because everyone was organized and ready to accomplish n ‘any task:
“We went back and forth, but because we were well organized, we were always ready. This is what my manager deserved, what my colleagues deserved. I always wanted to be on set on time and also always wanted to be ready to be a certain version of Patrizia in that scene. I have to say that everyone I believe did this job and I can’t say enough wonderful things about my casting. It was such a pleasure to work with Adam every day, it was such a pleasure to work with each of the actors because everyone cared and everyone wanted everything to be as good as possible.
Remember that the film is still screened in national cinemas.
Ridley Scott (‘Lost on Mars’) joins as director.
