Our unforgettable first on-screen Mary Jane, Kirsten Dunst came to believe she was up for the role of another character in the movie “Spider-Man,” alongside Tobey Maguire.

The actress recounted, according to CBR, through an excerpt from Sean O’Connell’s book, ‘With Great Power: How Spider-Man Conquered Hollywood during the Golden Age of Comic Book Blockbusters’, that she really thought she would play Gwen Stacy, simply Gwen.

When Kirsten Dunst first met director Sam Raimi, he was flipping through a Spider-Man comic, which had Gwen, and the actress found herself physically similar to her, he thought.

Moreover, the fact was even considered by Avi Arad, who ended up choosing, with the other producers, to present Mary Jane as the romantic partner of Peter Parker from the first film.

And you, do you think it would be interesting to choose?
