Kevin Hart signs contract with Netflix to produce and star in four films

Comedian Kevin Hart has signed a big deal with Netflix to produce and star in four of the streaming giant’s upcoming films. The information was revealed by Variety magazine.

The deal, which is expected to extend beyond those initial projects, is already being compared to the streaming platform’s successful partnership with comedian Adam Sandler, who has produced six films since 2014.

The deal was signed by producer HartBeat, who is owned by the comedian, and will not include the ‘True Story’ miniseries, starring him and Wesley Snipes.

In the past, Kevin Hart has made deals with Universal Pictures and Nickelodeon. And in an official statement, the star reflected on the new venture, celebrating the joining of forces for quality and benchmark entertainment:

I am extremely grateful to Ted Sarandos and Scott Stuber, we share the same creative vision and we always put audiences first. Our goal is to make the HartBeat name synonymous with first-class entertainment and storytelling ”.

Don’t forget that Hart and Wesley Snipes will be working together on Netflix’s latest original project, titled “ True Story. ”

The project will feature Hart playing “a version of himself” in the fictional miniseries. The plot follows his character, called Kid, and his older brother Carlton, who will be played by Snipes.

Eric Newman (“Narcos”) assumes the role of executive producer on the project, which will also be developed in partnership with HartBeat Production, Kevin Hart’s producer.

The episodes of “True Story” will be directed by Stephen Williams (“Watchmen”, “Lost”) and Hanelle Culpepper (“Star Trek Picard”, “Kung Fu”).
