UK media are reporting that Kate Middleton is set to become the boss of Welsh football’s governing body. If so, the Princess of Wales would steal the spot from her husband, Prince William. The couple have admitted in the past that they were competitive, but the reason for the move is believed to be something else entirely.
A strong change in this area, indeed, could save the husband from the diplomatic embarrassment in which he currently finds himself. King Charles, in fact, is redistributing titles and sponsorships these weeks. Having recently become Prince of Wales, William has every right to be appointed President of the Football Association of Wales.

But Prince William already holds the position of president of the English Football Association and has admitted on several occasions that he has a favorite team. So the Welsh don’t want to have someone in charge who doesn’t support them. And Kate Middleton could take over this conflict.
William and Kate: football divides them?
The role of patron of the Football Association of Wales belonged to Queen Elizabeth until the day of her death. Now it seems natural that it will be inherited by Prince William, but sources close to Wales have put forward the name of his wife Kate Middleton. The Princess of Wales is already the godmother of certain sports associations and the spouses would support different teams in the family.

What inflames the row is the fact that in the current World Cup, England are in the same group as Wales. Welsh fans are very angry and condemn William’s blatant favoritism for his club. So far, the Prince of Wales has replied that he will be a fan of both clubs in the future but will not give up his faith in football as he wants to remain a ‘genuine person!’, despite his royal title.

So far, the prince has responded to critics with his reasons. As reported by the tabloids, William commented, “I support both teams. I support England more in football, but Wales in rugby. When I was growing up, Wales didn’t take part in the tournaments, but I will support them throughout the process. Coming to the World Cup is a great achievement and I will be supporting Wales throughout the process.” Some fans believe it is inconsistent for a Prince of Wales not to cheer on his team and Express.co.uk report that sources familiar with the matter believe that King Charles will hand over the role to someone else.
