When Warner Bros. gave Zack Snyder the go-ahead to complete his version of “ Justice League, ” the filmmaker considered bringing in Ryan Reynolds to reprise his role as Green Lantern.
For those who don’t remember, Reynolds brought the hero to life in the failed 2011 adaptation, directed by Martin Campbell (“The Foreigner”).
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder said that:
“I had the idea to insert a Green Lantern that wasn’t Ryan, but I thought we could go ahead with the ‘Green Lantern 2011’ plot, only that I would have to bring Ryan. [Reynolds] with other lanterns, but this story is for later.
Sadly, Snyder didn’t give more details on the idea, or give a clue as to what this other Green Lantern would be like.
Plus, it’s hard to imagine how the movie would explain Reynolds’ version of the plot. Ultimately, it was best not to bring him in, as fans might be confused and hopeful that Reynolds might return to the role in new films of the hero.
Recalling that the new version of “Justice League” is now available!
