In an interview with Vanity Fair, director Zack Snyder revealed that he intends to reveal, through flashbacks, how the Joker killed Robin in the sequel to “Justice League”, with the intention of delving into in Bruce Wayne’s tragic past.

“I’ve always wanted to explore Robin’s death. If we were to do a new movie – but of course we probably won’t – I’d love to show flashbacks revealing how Robin died, how the Joker killed him, and set Wayne Mansion on fire. I wanted to show you everything that happened between him and Bruce.

He continues, “My plan was to show them how they came to be… how he hurt her in a way that no one else could. Besides losing your loved ones, it was probably the most painful moment of your life.

“In Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’, determined to ensure that Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns his forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an impending threat of catastrophic proportions. The task is more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face demons from their own past to transcend what was holding them back , allowing them to regroup and ultimately form an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) could be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their terrible intentions. “
