The wait is over! ‘Black Adam’ is finally here, in a theater near you. Among the many controversies from critics, whose opinions are divided, the truth is that this is a film full of talent and highly anticipated by DC fans. That’s why we’ve separated here 10 curiosities you should know before going to see the latest DCEU movie.

10 – Jordan Peele

As unlikely as it may seem, the direction of “Black Adam” was originally pitched to horror director Jordan Peele. However, as we can see, the negotiations have not advanced. According to Peele, he himself isn’t a big fan of superhero movies and he declined the invitation saying he wouldn’t want to deprive the opportunity of someone who was truly passionate about the genre.

You may not remember that the first trailer for “Black Adam” was released on June 8 this year. What you probably don’t know is that the date celebrates the 112th birthday of CC Beck, co-creator of ‘Black Adam’ and ‘Shazam’.

8 – Hero or villain?

Dwayne Johnson once asked his fans which character he should play, superhero Shazam or supervillain Black Adam. Fans responded Black Adam. And the result is there on the big screen, for both characters.

7 – From participation in the solo film

Originally, Black Adam was going to be introduced to the DCEU through a cameo appearance in the movie “Shazam.” However, it was later announced that the character would be getting his own solo movie. Fortunately, isn’t it?

6 – Suicide Squad

Not only in ‘Shazam’ would participate ‘Black Adam’. The anti-hero was originally also set to make his DC Extended Universe debut in the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie, but the idea was scrapped after James Gunn took over the project.

5 – Distribution Options

There were many casting options in ‘Black Adam’. For the Hawkman character, it was considered to cast Armie Hammer or Alexander Skarsgard, until we finally ended up with Aldis Hodge. As for the role of Doctor Fate, action actor Liam Neeson was considered. And for the role of Hawkgirl, actress Eiza González was considered, but ultimately the character was cut from the story.

This is not the first time that a good part of the cast has participated in a comic book adaptation. Dwayne Johnson was in ‘Hercules’, Marwan Kenzari was in ‘The Old Guard’, Sarah Shahi was in ‘Young Justice: Terrors’ and Bodhi Sabongui was in ‘Legends of Tomorrow’.

1 – Motivation for the Academy

Aldis Hodge used Dwayne Johnson’s role model at the gym as motivational inspiration when preparing to play Hawkman on the big screen. Aldis commented that he was watching his colleague’s videos on Instagram and it always seemed like his friend was gaining a lot of muscle, while he himself wasn’t gaining anything. This motivated him to keep training until he saw results. And from what we saw in the film, it worked!
